Washington Dulles Airport.....At that moment, I thought to myself "this place
could not be more aptly named." Between the snowy weather and a faulty
electrical system on the aircraft, my flight to London was already 2 hours
late. As I wandered back to my gate, a harried looking ticketing agent
exclaimed "Ms. Harris! We were beginning to wonder about you." The flight
had been canceled but, all First-class and Business-class passengers, like
me, had been bumped to the next available flight in another 2 hours. I was
offered the full use of their executive club. She pointed the way and I may
made my way to the nearest drink.

I took my whiskey sour and relaxed into a club chair to zone out on CNN.
"Darling, I need to be in London tonight," I heard behind me. I chuckled to
myself as I thought "Pal, it's already 9pm here, it's tomorrow there."
British accents were all around me so one more should not have made a
difference but, the lazy, sexy tone somehow distinguished it. I looked up to
see him turning on the charm as if this poor woman could clear the weather
herself. "Mr. Izzard, we are confident that this flight will depart on time.
Feel free to avail yourself of all of our services." With that she rushed
off. He stood there not quite sure what to do but, the bar seemed like a
likely move. He grabbed a beer and gracefully slumped into a chair across
from me to watch the news also.

I looked over and gave him the stranger in a tight situation smile. He was  wearing black jeans and boots, a ski jacket and as he removed it, I noticed  an Aspen  T-shirt. He looked gorgeous, as usual, and I had to concentrate on CNN to keep my breathing normal. He fidgeted about in his chair trying to get  comfortable but, they weren't designed for a snooze. As an "ignurnt 'mercan,"
I had my feet propped up on the coffee table in front of me. I pushed the table closer to him and curled up in my chair and then tossed him an extra cushion with a quiet "Heads up." He flashed a brilliant but, exhausted smile and adjusted himself to his new creature comforts. He tried to watch the news
but, soon dozed off.

When awake; he is sexy and gorgeous but, when asleep Eddie is beautiful and
boyish and almost innocent. I sat there for an hour or more alternating
between the news and just watching him. All the while trying desperately to
control the desire to have his head resting in my lap and being able to run
my fingers through his hair. I got up to look out the window and rest my
flushed face against its coolness. The snow was still falling and blanketing
the airport but, the crews appeared to be getting the runways cleared. The
lights and the snow were a lovely combination and I found myself just staring
out the window.

A slight movement in the glass caught my eye and there he was right behind
me. Our eyes met in the reflection. "Beautiful," he said quietly. "Mmmm,"
was all I could manage for a response as I quickly looked back outside. He
was thinking about the snow. I snuck another peek at his reflection only to
find he still looked at me intently. "Going to London, are you?" I nodded
and smiled as an answer. "Excellent," he murmured as he snuggled in behind me
and we looked out at the lights for a bit longer.

After a few minutes our flight was called, he slowly shifted behind me and
took my hand in his highly manicured one. I vaguely wondered how managed to
not break his nails while skiing. As we boarded the plane, he had a hushed
conversation with the gate personnel and we were lead to seats in the back
row of the first-class cabin. It was almost cocoonish as he tucked me into
the window seat. He grabbed 2 blankets and a single pillow as the flight
attendant went by with them and requested 2 brandies a preflight drinks. He
warmed both glasses in his hands and handed me one to sip.

The takeoff was uneventful and as soon as the "Fasten Seat Belt" signs went
out, Eddie raised the seat arm between us, put the pillow behind his head,
pulled me to his chest and covered us with both blankets. His body was solid
but, warm and the most comfortable place I had been in years.

As I snuggled into his arms, I realized I hadn't said more than 5 words to
him in out time together so, it was a surprise when he said "Kirsten, look at
me." My head came up and my eyes looked into the depths of his and stayed
there because I could not have looked away if my life had depended on it. I
wondered how he knew my name and in the same instant, I didn't care. I
struggled for the right thing to say. I struggled for anything to say. But
before I could form a word, he whispered "Your silence is devastatingly
sexy,"............I hadn't a clue how to respond. "Thank you" in the face of
the compliment seemed stupid so, I did what I had been dying to do for hours
(if not years)..........................I reached up and brought his mouth to
mine. We shared a slow, soft, gentle, deep kiss for the rest of the flight.
