Jeanette sighed and looked around at the house. What had possessed her to buy this house? It wasn't a fixer upper it was a handyman's nightmare, windows smashed and boxes and rubble everywhere. She put her bags down and wondered what to do and where to start. Kicking rubbish as she walked Jeanette opened the doors, groaning as they fell off and decided that her first task was to put all the doors back on.
Returning from the car with her toolbox, Jeanette set about the task of securing her new "dream home" and making it hers. Starting with the doors and then placing some of the rubbish over the windows to keep out the cold, she worked her way around the house, bottom floor then top floor, frowning at some of the stains that she saw on the floor.
"Jeez this place needs a clean up." She said to herself and sat down on a box to eat some lunch, her eyes slowly drooping and then finally closing.
What woke her up was a sharp rapping at the newly attached front door and as she got up to answer it a man walked into the room. Jeanette looked at him in horror, what was he doing, walking into her house?
"If I can get in," He said looking at her seriously "Anyone can, 'unnersan'?" She nodded at him mutely, the terror begining to ebb from her frozen body.
"You leave this place before nightfall, Y'hear? Eddie'd find you good fun to play with." He spat out as he walked back out of the house. Jeanette went to the window and watched him walk down the garden path and off down the road, his keys jingling in his pockets. After he had gone out of sight she cussed him loudly and kicked a box to relieve the fright that she had had. Muttering she retrieved the box and placed it under one end of a plank, the other end supported by a box too, making a make shift bench.
"Eddie schmeddie," She said crossly "This is my house and I'll stay here if I want." However by the time nightfall had come she was less sure of herself and she decided that maybe it'd be a good idea to go find a place to spend the night. Walking out to her car she rummaged in her pocket for her keys, not finding them she tried all her other pockets. Panicking, Jeanette went back to the house and scoured it from top to bottom. She had just given up the search when something surfaced in her mind, a picture of the old man walking off down the road, jingling keys, what if they hadn't been his keys? What if they had been hers? Jeanette ground her teeth in frustration and fear, evil old man, after he had told her not to stay here after dark as well.
Sighing, Jeanette fetched some fire wood and started a fire in the ireplace, then closing and barring the doors as best she could she went back into the front room and looked out of the window. The night seemed to grow darker, the light from the fire making barely a dent in the blackness and, figuring it'd all be better if she slept right through it, Jeanette led on her makeshift bench and, using her coat as a blanket, tried to go to sleep.
What woke her up this time was the sound of her back door splintering into pieces. Sitting bolt upright, Jeanette looked about the room in terror, the fire was low and the shadows seemed to move menacingly as her eyes tried to pierce the gloom. Howling and screeching filled the house from the roof to the cellar, sending a chill up her back, before going totally silent.
Looking about her Jeanette counted four pairs of red, glowing eyes all staring intently at her, she froze in terror, her mind unable to make her body respond. One of the things growled and then all of them started moving slowly towards her, her eyes finally about to make out humanoid shapes from the light of the dying embers of the fire. Her mind took over and she was able to inch her way away from the monsters and back along the bench, praying that she'd make it to the door, to the car, to anywhere but here, her terrified eyes unable to look away from the advancing shapes. Her retreating back bumped against someone sat behind her on the bench and she froze once more, her mind filled with the new threat.
Two arms encircled her body, holding her close, almost affectionately, whilst a nose rubbed itself along her cheek, Jeanette's fear preventing her from pushing away.
"Mmmmmm, what do we have here?" A soft, masculine voice whispered in her ear "And what are you doing in our house?" Blood red talons came up to stroke her cheek the points leaving scratch marks over her face.
"I bought this house," Jeanette managed to force out "It is mine" The voice laughed softly, ending it in a purr.
"I think not, this is our house and anything in it is ours too" He licked at her ear with his tongue, grinning as she struggled "That means you, babes"
Grabbing her arm, he spun her around and she got her first look at the man. Red lipstick covered his round, curvacious lips and eyeshadow of an unknown colour in the dim light, surrounded his mascara'd eyes, cruel and cold, a hint of something hidden in them. He was wearing black leather all over, black leather trousers, jacket and high heeled boots with a black top, a sequined star in the middle of it. He grinned at her once more, one lip curling back in a sneer, showing a long, white canine.
"Well, well aren't you a pretty one?" He said eyeing her up and down, his tongue ran across his lips once before he roughly pulled her closer. "Let me introduce myself, I am Eddie, I'd like to get to know you better."
"You are him, the one I was warned about." Jeanette gasped in horror, he laughed at her once more.
"You were warned and yet you did not run, well you will regret that . . . for the last ten minutes of your life."
Eddie did a mock bow "I see my fame has preceded me" Jeanette screamed in terror and fury.
"That bastard old man, I would be well away from here and from you if he hadn't took my keys." She looked at Eddie with venhemance "He left me here to die!" Eddie looked shocked.
"Then you shouldn't be in this room?" Jeanette shook her head "And you shouldn't be here with me? About to die? Then I am so sorry, I will let you go . . . . . " The shocked look left his face and he smiled at her evilly " . . but seeing as you are here and I am hungry, maybe I won't after all." The fear and terror returned double fold to Jeanette as she struggled to be free, his grip as cold as ice and as strong as steel.
"You
really don't think I'd let someone as beautiful as you go, do you?" He
looked at her seriously, the hunger draining from his eyes as he gently placed
a kiss on her lips. Jeanette looked up at him as he kissed her once more, more
passionately, talons returning to nails as his hand slipped around the back
of her head, his grip relaxing on her arm, all
thoughts of escapes fled from Jeanette's head as she tried to deal with her
rapidly changing emotions, how could someone so wonderfully good looking be
evil?
The thought stopped suddenly as talons dug into her flesh once more, her frightened eyes looked up to see the hunger back and Eddie's mouth bearing down, not onto her mouth but towards her neck.
"Sorry babes," He said without remorse "But a guy's gotta feed you know and you are so sweet."
His fangs bit into her flesh, his arms holding her upright as he drained the life out of her, before he dropped her to the floor. As she faded away, Jeanette heard a strange voice say:
"Hey master, guess what I found in her coat pocket?"
"Amuse me" Replied the unmistakable voice of Eddie.
"Her car keys."
