Eddie insisted that I paint his nails again. He wouldn't leave until it was finished.

"C'mon, Stevie," he said. "I need you to do this. I always make a mess of it." Every night he went through the same ritual of sprucing himself up and now it was time for the polish touch-up. He had to be thirsty (I certainly was) but he waited patiently with a bottle of indigo colored nail polish selected from a collection of 80 bottles on the table.

He held out his left hand and I took it. His fingers glided like icicles across my palm. Tonight, Eddie was getting extra dressed up. He was wearing an ink black suit, blacker than the darkest night I had ever witnessed, with eyeliner to match. Two beautiful blue jewels stared out at me. Lack of blood had turned his skin a porcelain white that looked ready to shatter. He wasn't wearing any lipstick tonight but we both knew his mouth would be red soon enough.

Every night I looked at him I couldn't help but think that those blue eyes would shine forever, he would flash that wonderful crooked smile forever, and he would be mine forever. Those thoughts pleased me to no end.

"Stevie, dear," Eddie said as I finished up his left hand and started on the right. "You know tonight is a special night."

Of course I did. Nothing in the entire universe could make me forget it. Nothing in my life could possibly compare to it. But I shook my head no, playing around with him. Eddie scowled.

"How could you forget, love?" He took his left hand (the nails now dry) and brushed the hair out of my eyes. "It was only the night that completely changed my life forever, literally, and hopefully yours, too."

The nails on his right hand were finished. Eddie held them up and admired his glittery fingers. Then that crooked grin appeared which was what first caught my attention in the first place.

"It's our anniversary, love. But you know that, don't you?" he said mockingly, knowing that I was just pulling his leg. His indigo tipped hands wrapped around mine. "How could I have thought I was even alive before you gave me that wonderful kiss? Please tell me how I could have ever thought that at all."

The electricity between us was incredible. I was trapped in the vice of his stare. I grabbed his lapel and pulled him to me. My mouth locked over his. He tasted sweet and delicious. He pulled me closer and crushed me against his chest and tangled his fingers in my hair. Desire was overwhelming my thirst, but I could feel the coldness of his skin even through his clothes. Our kiss finally ended, reluctantly. Eddie needed to feed. Disappointment flashed across his face for a brief second, but then he turned and smiled mischievously.

"C'mon love. Lets go out and celebrate."

The End
